[Signature Econyl Premium line - The Isla Collection]
Regenerated nylon derived from Ocean waste
We believe in making sustainability our core tenet, to protect our friends in the ocean. We transform ocean waste, such as ocean nets into wearable and classy designs, which are resistant to UV, chlorine, sunscreens and oils.
Performance fibre made from recycled plastic bottles
All other materials
At Buoy.swim, material selection is at the core of what we do. We pride ourselves in choosing materials with care and intentionally prioritise natural fibers. While we are working to reduce the usage of synthetic fibers in our suits, it is not possible to eliminate completely in a practical sense. Instead, we are working towards a sustainable approach with swimwear and bodysuits where materials are recycled infinitely.
In addition to the materials we choose, all Buoy suits are dyed with eco-inks.
We choose to not overproduce pieces so as to minimise wastage.
Our tissue wrappers and stickers are FSC-certified, being sourced from forests and supply chains that are managed responsibly and sustainably.
Acid-free paper makes up both the tissue wrappers and stickers, ensuring that our ink won’t run or transfer, and no chemical residue are left behind during decomposition.
Soy-based inks are used to colour our materials and to stamp our thank-you cards — an eco-friendly alternative to petroleum-based inks by reducing air pollution during the drying process.
Our mailers are fully compostable — they are formed from a combination of PBAT, a bio-based polymer, and PLA, which is made from plant materials such as regular field corn and wheat straw.
Every Buoy suit comes sealed in a biodegradable sleeve, lined with a eco-paper hygiene liner and with a reusable Buoy pouch for you to take with you wherever you go.
Our manufacturing partners are based in Indonesia.
We've selected them because of their ethics around treating their staff. It was imperative for us to find a partner that shares our values.
All their staff are paid well above minimum wages. This includes 13 months annual salary and profit sharing.
Our partners manage the working hours of their staff and provide meal allowances and overtime compensation. All staff also have access to health insurance for themselves and their family and self-improvement trainings.
All the above are being implemented in accordance to the local government regulation.
Every Buoy suit is hand-sewn and every sale contributes to monthly donations to women & children in need.
